Print refers to a process for reproducing text and image, typically with ink on paper using a printing press. It is often carried out on a huge scale with massive printing presses surely an industrial process, and is an essential part of publishing and transaction printing.

Electronic media are typically radio and television commercials as a form of advertising using either the medium of radio or television.  An advertiser buys airtime from a station or network in exchange for airing the commercials.   Both media sell their airtime as spots, which typically are in 15, 30 and 60 second increments.

Since 1965, the Highway Beautification Act has continued to present complications for the entity that would use the medium of outdoor advertising.  The Act restricted the locations for billboards thus limiting any proliferation and provided for fines that could be assessed for non-compliance.

States and local governing agencies have the responsibility for establishing criteria to insure observance of the Act.  As mentioned billboard locations have been restricted however, established boards that are not upgraded or otherwise modified can remain in locations where new boards would be prohibited or in other words they are "grandfathered" to borrow the term!
